Munns Report Site Revision for 2010

2.1  - The Site Re-Organization Layout

Introduction - Throughout my life, as I apply myself to accomplish various endeavors, I sometimes find myself working along a non-linear path toward a conclusion or completion. The traditional linear path has an itinerary, a schedule, and a pipeline or channel of process a person follows to a specific goal, while a non-linear path is one where opportunities to make progress are taken as they arise. The linear path seems the most direct, but it is also the one most often impeded by closed doors, obstacles or lack of resources. The non-linear path sees many paths and doors or opportunities, and if one is closed, the path is re-directed toward another which is still open, so progress continues to be made.

I have always been ambitious in wanting to put my time to good use, and over the years, in both my career work and self education, I have taken up the philosophy that if I cannot make progress along one path, I should look for other paths where I can make progress and accomplish some meaningful result.
The effect of this philosophy is that my effort tends to take a non-linear path toward it's ultimate completion, the constructive effort metaphorically resembling the way people assemble jigsaw puzzles, one piece at a time, moving around from one section of the big picture to another, as pieces tend to fit in place and expand our clarity of vision in seeing the proverbial "big picture" become more and more clear.

This has become the method for my research into this most intriguing film, taken by Roger Patterson, with Bob Gimlin's participation, that fateful day in October 1967 when they encountered something very strange at Bluff Creek, California and filmed about 953 frames of 16mm film of what many people do believe is a real "Bigfoot", and what other people quite frankly dismiss as just a hoax with a  guy in a fur costume.

Now that I have advanced to a fairly extensive understanding of this film and the issues around it, I have chosen to re-structure the website introduction to reflect various categorized areas of interest and activity. For archival purposes, I have chosen to keep the original website intact as well. There is a valued potential in being able to examine the evolution of ideas and efforts, for people who have an open mind and a sincere interest in understanding how research work progresses, so I keep the older notes available for that archival purpose.

Below, you will find a new division of my analysis work in category groups, with a brief explanation of each, and then a new page link to a more elaborate description of each category detailing the content and efforts, their status, and any conclusions I feel have been confidently reached on some topics.
                                      Topic Summaries and Links

3.1  Beginner's Guide - A good place for starting if you are relatively new to this film or the debates about it.

3.2  The Physical Film Itself - This section contains more information about 16mm film (in general), the actual film and it's copy history, questions about cropping to help you understand why some images show more of the scene than others, and information about the Inventory of Frames (individual images of the film strip).

3.3  The Subject Figure Seen in the Film - This section gives attention to the overall study, analysis, and debates about the subject seen walking through the film. My own specific analysis follows, in section 3.4

3.4  My Studies on Authenticity of the Subject - This section gives attention to my own analysis of the primary debate, which is the question of whether what we see in the film is something biologically real, or that what we are seeing is a human wearing some type of fur costume or "ape suit" and merely performing a hoax for the filming.

A newly updated revision of my original "Creature Suit Analysis" notes, posted to the Bigfoot Forums in 2008, is included here as well. This revised form will include far more illustrative material to help readers understand the material discussed. So these newly revised versions are a more comprehensive analysis with comments by others factored into the revision. Additions, deletions, and changes of phrasing or description in this version (if any, compared to the original notes) reflect my current knowledge and judgment on the topic. Links to the original notes and forum comments are also provided, if you would like to study the original notes and other people's comments about them, on the Bigfoot Forum (BFF)

There is also a gallery of fur costumes from the era (the 60's), older examples, and newer technologies compared.

3.5  The Backstory Discussion - A secondary consideration of this film is that there is a very intense debate about the circumstances of time, events and people involved in this film, Roger Patterson, Bob Gimlin, and others.  This backstory material is widely used as circumstantial arguments for the film being hoaxed. As much as I have tried to keep my personal focus on the actual film subject and film data, the backstory issues are simply unavoidable in any comprehensive hope of clearing up the debate about this film's authenticity, so I address them here.

3.6  The Digital Site Model and the Camera Lens Issues - This is something I introduced to the discussion last May, 2009, when I launched the website, and it remains a goal of mine to resolve. This section explains the history of the discussion, the methods and status, and the ultimate goals.
3.7  Personal Debates -  In theory, a healthy debate should be carried out with all focus on ideas, facts, evidence, and the logical evaluation of material without consideration of who's idea something is, or who is the advocate for a certain point of view. In reality, however, people are drawn into the debate and ideas are sometimes endorsed or attacked simply because they are associated with a person. Since I have never used a disguising screen name in my internet activity, my name has become a factor in this debate and my capability (or lack of same, as some people argue) has become part of the discussion. So this section addresses some of these issues related to both my capability and the internet discussions about me personally.

This section also contains my resume and descriptions of my work and accomplishments, so you may fairly appraise my capabilities in relation to my efforts analyzing the film.

3.8  The Rumor Mill - This is a random assembly of curious things I've found in the internet discussions and other sources alike which are false and I felt deserve to be corrected. This section does not correct every falsehood or error (the internet is far to vast for any mortal person to fully examine it) but I will try to correct errors as I encounter them.

3.9  Archive - The Original Website

Follow this Link (2.3) to visit the original website as it was launched last May, 2009, if you wish to research the evolution of the Report.

4.1  Media References - A listing of media for further research or interest.

New for 2011 - Reference Charts to help standardize analysis efforts. Very high resolution files, usually 4000 pixels or greater,
