A brief summary of the intended content of this page is as follows:

there is a very intense debate about the circumstances of time, events and people involved in this film, Roger Patterson, Bob Gimlin,
and others. This backstory material is widely used as circumstantial arguments for the film being hoaxed. As much as I have
tried to keep my personal focus on the actual film subject and film data, the backstory issues are simply unavoidable in any comprehensive
hope of clearing up the debate about this film's authenticity, so I address them here.

it has been edited, somehow, to hide evidence of a hoax.
To understand the arguments, and my conclusion that such arguments
are unfounded and without merit, I have prepared the discussion as a PDF document which can be downloaded here:
This PDF contains new material explaining splicing and how splices may be detected in copies,
to answer some of the often asked questions of how we can evaluate the possibility of splices in the PGF original, if all we have
is copies to study.
